Presidential candidate (candidate) number 1, Anies Baswedan, responded to the academics of a number of universities criticizing President Jokowi's leadership in the implementation of the 2024 General Election, from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) to the University of Indonesia (UI).
Anies is grateful that the academic community has started to issue an attitude to oversee the implementation of the 2024 General Election so that it remains fair.
"We are happy that the campus voiced and it shows that the campus cares, the campus does not stand still watching the condition of the nation and indeed tomorrow's election is an election that will determine the direction ahead," said Anies at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, February 2.
According to Anies, campuses began to speak after capturing the facts in society. The emergence of the attitude of people who care about political contestation at this time, Anies continued, is the supervisor of law enforcement for state administrators.
"The campuses speak after arresting what is happening in society. We have conveyed this message for a long time, maintaining neutrality, maintaining justice, referees for bribery become fair referees. Referees who do not have players, referees who do not concurrently promoters," he continued.
Previously, a number of academics, professors, and UGM alumni made Petition Bulaksumur as a form of concern for the dynamics of national politics and violations of democratic principles ahead of the 2024 election voting.
"We regret the deviant actions that actually occurred during the administration of President Joko Widodo who is also part of the Gadjah Mada University extended family," said Professor of the Faculty of the Faculty of Psychology, Koentjoro.

Koentjoro also regretted the ethical violations that occurred within the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the decision on the age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the neutrality of the apparatus in the implementation of the election.
"Ethical violations at the Constitutional Court, the involvement of a number of law enforcement officers in the ongoing democratic process of representatives and the President's contradictory statement regarding the involvement of public officials in political campaigns between neutrality and partiality are a form of deviation and indifference to democratic principles," said Koentjoro.
Not only that, the academic community consisting of residents and UI alumni read out national calls asking for elections to be free from all forms of intimidation.
"Based on the spirit of academic freedom that we have, we stand here inviting UI citizens and alumni as well as all Indonesian citizens to immediately close ranks. First, condemn all forms of action that oppress freedom of expression," said UI Professor Council Chairman Harkristuti Harkrisnowo at UI, Depok, West Java.
