JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has proposed to the central government that handling floods and robs in the Central Java Pantura be a priority with a budget of IDR 3.19 trillion.

"Actually, there are many proposals to the central government, there are strategic projects that we are pushing, but this time, I want to prioritize how to handle floods in the northern coast. This is the most important thing that must be resolved immediately", he said in Semarang, reported by Antara, Wednesday, 24 February.

The proposal was conveyed by Ganjar to the Head of Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa at the Coordination Meeting of Proposals for National Priority Programs to Support the 2022 RKP Major Project online.

In his presentation, Ganjar proposed a budget of IDR 3.19 trillion for handling floods and robs in several areas on the northern coast, including the improvement of industrial area infrastructure there.

"In Pantura, there are two things, one about infrastructure must be sorted out, but the most important flood. Flood in the Pantura must be taken care of because there are observers who say the conditions are quite dangerous, especially in Pekalongan the observer said that it must be handled quickly so that it does not sink", he said.

Apart from Pekalongan, the regions that should receive attention are Semarang City and Demak Regency because according to Ganjar, these locations need special handling, although they cannot rule out other areas.

"We actually prepare others at the regional level, but because this is with the central government, we need assistance in handling these areas", he said.

Apart from handling floods and robs in the Pantura, Ganjar also proposed two other priority programs, including the development of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Object area as the 10 new Bali in Indonesia with a total proposed budget of IDR 1.72 trillion.

There is also a proposal for the housing sector to be unfit for habitation to support poverty alleviation with a total budget of IDR 1.4 trillion.

"Apart from that, there is also an increase in economic growth in industrial areas, including the fulfillment of infrastructure, construction of connecting routes between the north and south of Central Java, poverty reduction, unemployment, environmental aspects, and others. Indeed, not all of them are proposed to the central government, because we will handle some of them", he said.
