West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police (Polda) pay attention to areas prone to social conflicts that have the potential to appear in the 2024 simultaneous elections.

"For vulnerable areas, almost all regencies/cities, but while the category is very vulnerable, almost all of them have the potential to be on the island of Sumbawa," said Head of the NTB Police Operations Bureau Kombes Pol Abu Bakar Tertusi in Mataram, NTB, Wednesday, January 31, as reported by Antara.

He said this was based on the results of mapping in the field, so that his party had prepared a strategy to prevent and deal with social conflicts in the community.

"So, we have prepared a special strategy for handling areas that are categorized as very vulnerable on Sumbawa Island," he said.

As a precautionary measure, Abu Bakar said that all personnel in charge of securing the election had received direction.

"Like the day before voting, all personnel on duty must be at each security point," he said.

Likewise, with security at the polling station (TPS), he said the quota of security personnel would adjust to the level of security at the location.

"For the TPS, it depends on the situation. The police chief knows it's each region. Later he (Kapolres) will determine. So, the observation of the day of the voting will continue to be carried out by each Polres," he said.

Until now, he said, there has been a request for assistance from security personnel who have come from a number of Polres. At least 250 personnel were asked for security assistance duties.

"So far, only the Mataram Police have not submitted a request," said Abu Bakar.

He reminded personnel in charge of securing elections to continue to prioritize humanist attitudes and maintain professionalism when dealing with the community.

"So, members of the National Police must remain in the community, whatever problems arise must be resolved. Even though there is the authority to discriminate against members in the field, it must be done professionally and humanely," he concluded.
