West Java Metropolitan Tambourine Area Management, Menparekraf Prioritizes West Java Coast

JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno revealed that the tourism sector in the Metropolitan Tambourine Area is being developed, to realize the acceleration of new economic growth in West Java (Jabar). Sandiaga explained that the arrangement of the tourism sector in the Metropolitan Tambourine Area will later adopt three approaches, namely accessibility, amenities and attractions. "We are currently managing this (tourism sector) with this approach," Sandiaga said when met in Cirebon, West Java, Sunday, January 28, which was confiscated by Antara. The concept of structuring, according to him, will later be applied to the main coastal route north (Pantura) or coastal areas of West Java which include Subang, Cirebon, Indramayu and its surroundings.

He conveyed that in terms of attractions, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will revive festivals that elevate culture to local wisdom in the Pantura.

With this appeal, it is hoped that domestic and foreign tourists can stop and revive the economic activities of local residents there.

In addition, his party has also mapped potential destinations that can be appeared in the area around Patimban Port, Subang.

"For tourism, we have mapped it because so far Subang has been more towards the mountains. But not to the north coast and coast," he said. Sandiaga explained, an approach from the accessibility and amenities side is being designed. For example, with the large number of hotel and homestay constructions for tourists.

Thus, he is optimistic that the tourism sector can become a supporting sector to spur new economic growth in the Metropolitan Tambourine Area.

"We will develop the tourist village (in Tambourine)," he said.

Meanwhile, Cirebon Regent Imron said, the Metropolitan Tambourine Area is an area focused on accelerating the pace of the economy in several cities and districts in West Java.

Especially for Cirebon, he said, it is projected to become an industrial area in the development of the Tambourine area because it is considered to have potential in terms of investment regulations that support the new economic sector.

"Every region already has its respective roles such as Cirebon with industrial potential, Majalengka has an airport, Indramayu is on agriculture and tourism in Kuningan," he said.

Imron added that his party has implemented several strategic programs, one of which is by forming a task force to help accelerate the growth of the new industry. "We hope that this Tambourine Area will have a positive impact on the economy of the people in Cirebon," he said.
