MERAK - The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) together with the DPR RI Commission V Working Visit Team conducted a review of facilities and infrastructure (Sarpras) at Merak Port, Banten and West Kalimantan Province. This is done to ensure the implementation of safe and comfortable land transportation for the community.

"Today I visited the Port of Merak together with the Commission V DPR RI Working Visit Team to supervise supporting facilities and infrastructure, especially for river, lake and ferry transportation. From this supervision also received constructive input for the convenience of the community when using ferry transportation, "said Director General of Land Transportation, Budi Setiyadi, in his statement, Friday, February 5.

He continued, Director General Budi said that there were as many as 74 ships consisting of 69 regular ships and 5 express ships which were used as supporting facilities and as many as 7 pairs of docks consisting of 6 pairs of regular piers and 1 pair of express docks as supporting infrastructure.

"With adequate sarpras, this is a big progress. Hopefully it is not only progress for services but also in safety aspects and benefits for the community," said Director General Budi.

In addition, Director General Budi invites all people, especially operators to play an active role in complying with the prevailing rules and regulations.

In a different location to be precise in West Kalimantan, Chairman of Commission V DPR RI, Lasarus together with the Secretary of the Directorate General of Land Transportation, Marta Hardisarwono also handed over five units of bus assistance to be handed over to Nadhatul Ulama University, Pontianak Theological College, Nyarungkop Catholic School Foundation, Institute Shanti Buana, and the Helvetia Bunut Foundation. This bus assistance is prioritized for educational institutions whose conditions are still developing and feel they need assistance.

"Hopefully this bus will be useful and cared for. Everything is for activities and modes of transportation in West Kalimantan. With this, the hope is also to accelerate the recovery process for our economy after the pandemic," said Marta.

In line with Marta's statement, Lasarus stated that the Government will support and continue to assist campuses that need assistance like this.
