Regent Of Sorong: Don't Be The Head Of The Village Just To Manage Village Funds

JAKARTA - Village heads (village heads) in the Sorong area, Southwest Papua to truly serve and serve the community. This is not only oriented to manage village funds.

The daily executive of the Regent of Sorong, Southwest Papua Cliff A Japredang said that the position of village head is the mandate of the residents so that they are attached to the responsibility to improve, bring services closer and strengthen services to local residents.

"Don't be a village head just to be able to manage village funds. It's not also a village head for prestige (shower)," Japnik said quoting Antara.

The village head is also required to bring and fight for the aspirations of the people to the government at the above level so that development programs, both infrastructure, education, health and the economy can reach the villages.

"Village heads are the most important part of the government tasked with serving the community at the village level so that people really feel government services through strategic programs," he said.

Japnik menyebut saat ini ada banyak kepala kampung harus menghadapi masalah hukum lantaran terjerat kasus penyalahgunaan dana desa.

"Not a few village heads have to face the law because they are not careful in managing the village fund budget. I ask this to be a serious concern," he said.

In this regard, Japnik asked village heads in Sorong Regency to account for the use of village funds received every year for infrastructure, economy, education, and community empowerment programs.

On that occasion, Japnik asked for the support of all village heads in his area in the success of the smooth and security of the 2024 General Election, where the vote will take place on February 14.

"There should be no vacancy or vacuum of the government at the lower level when the election is held. For that reason, the inauguration of village heads should be accelerated, before the election," he explained.

Village heads are asked to ensure that every process and stage of the 2024 General Election runs safely and smoothly in their respective regions.

The village heads who were inaugurated came from the Districts of Salawati Selatan, Salawati, Makbon, Wemak, Klawak, Beraur, Sunook and Maudus.
