Prabowo Affirms Continue To Support Palestine If He Becomes President

Presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto emphasized that he would continue to support Palestine in various international forums if he was elected President for the 2024 '2029 period.

"We will continue to support this at the United Nations (United Nations), as members of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation), in every forum, and all the ways we can until the conflict is resolved forever," Prabowo said as written statement reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 25.

According to him, the war that occurred in Gaza, Palestine, was a tragedy that had to be stopped.

Prabowo does not agree with the opinion that war is Israel's way of fighting for the right or independence of its homeland.

"It's a dangerous illusion if we think that this war will change everything for Israel," he said.

He said the war had resulted in more than 20,000 casualties, most of them civilians, women and children.

"Through their murder and destruction, they (Israel) only instill the seeds of hatred for all generations of Palestinians," he said.

Therefore, Prabowo stressed that war must be resolved immediately according to the parameters agreed by the United Nations.

"We know from history that as long as the occupation continues, as long as there is no independent Palestine, there will be no peace," Prabowo said.
