Atikoh Ganjar Yakin Indonesia Can Be Sovereign Food: Milk Wants To Be Imported, Why Don't You Buy It From Farmers?

LUMAJANG - Siti Atikoh, who is the wife of the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo, believes that Indonesia can be sovereign in the food sector. So he questioned the discourse on milk imports which was busy to fulfill the program of other pairs of candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

This was conveyed by Atikoh when he was in touch with residents and volunteers in Lumajang, East Java today, Thursday, January 25. Initially, Atikoh believed that Indonesia could be sovereign in the food sector because of its fertile land and creative business actors.

Indonesia can be sovereign in the food sector. Yes, it can be very possible. Because our land is fertile, because our population is very creative in terms of planting and also the climate is very qualified," said Atikoh in front of residents and volunteers.

However, Atikoh said that this belief must also be owned by all parties. "Farmers want to progress, the government is also pro to farmers and the community supports not buying imported products," he said.

One of the commodities that Atikoh mentioned was milk. He questioned why there was a discourse on importing milk while domestic breeders could produce these commodities.

"Even though we are also many breeders. Why don't we buy from our breeders," he said.

Not only milk, but rice commodities are also a concern for Atikoh Ganjar. Then when harvesting, why import? Spending in Indo so that the price doesn't go down. Meat is also like that," said Ganjar's wife.

In this kind of way, Atikoh Ganjar believes that food sovereignty can be realized. Moreover, it is mandatory for the government to protect the needs of the community in the future.

"The hope of food sovereignty is realized because it will protect all Indonesian citizens," he concluded.
