The Perpetrator Of The Rape And Murder Of An 8-Year-Old Boy In Cianjur Was Shot By The Police

CIANJUR - Police shot the suspect in the rape and murder of an 8-year-old child, for resisting when he was about to be arrested at a plantation in the Lampung area.

The suspect in the crime who was arrested was Sapturi (35), a resident of Agrabinta District, Cianjur Regency, West Java.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cianjur Police, AKP Tono Listianto, said that his party completed an investigation for six months after finding the body of an 8-year-old female victim who found it in a bush on the beach of Agrabinta.

"The results of the investigation led to the Sapturi perpetrator, who was seen last with the victim, we had a chance to chase, but the perpetrator moved around until he finally received information on his whereabouts in Lampung's jurisdiction," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 24.

Officers arrested the perpetrator who was hiding in the middle of a plantation in Lampung's jurisdiction, after being shot in the leg for trying to fight the officers when they were about to be arrested.

Then the perpetrator was brought back to Cianjur to undergo an examination.

After an examination, he said, it was revealed that the perpetrator was a recidivist with the same case in the Lampung jurisdiction.

After getting out of prison, returning to Agrabinta and repeating the same case, namely raping and killing a child victim.

"The perpetrator was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code, Article 80 of Law No. 35 of 2014 with the threat of a maximum imprisonment of 15 years," he said.

In front of the police, Sapturi admitted that he was attracted to the victim, who he had known for a long time and was invited to play on the edge of Cikakap Beach.

After raping the victim, the 8-year-old boy, the perpetrator took his life and threw his body into the bushes on 27 July 2023.
