YOGYAKARTA - The Gunungkidul Regency Tourism Office (Dispar) has made a guide for tourist visits to tourists to be comfortable during visiting during bad weather conditions due to the Cyclone Anggrek.

Head of Dispar Gunungkidul Oneng Windu Wardana said the presence of Cyclone Anggrek caused high sea waves and high rainfall.

For this reason, Dispar made an appeal to tourists through social media as a guide for visiting tourist destinations.

"So far, we have appealed through social media, forums and the community to effectively anticipate visitors who have come and cannot travel because of bad weather," said Oneng in Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Tuesday, January 23, as reported by Antara.

He said the bad weather factor affected visits to Gunungkidul, because most tourist destinations were nature, such as beaches to caves.

This has been seen since last week, when viewed from data on Saturday, January 13, 2024, 11,109 visitors, and Sunday, January 15, 2024, 17,173 people visited.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, there were 8,113 visitors, and Sunday, January 21, 2024, 12,224 visitors.

"There has been a decrease in tourist visits due to bad weather due to Cyclone Orchids," he said.

Oneng also reminded tourism managers of special interest to pay attention to the weather when receiving guests. Special interest tourism such as Cave tubing, all tourism managers have their own operational standards (SOP).

So that if the weather is not favorable, immediately carry out a temporary closure. For example Kalisuci (Cave Tubing Kalisuci) cannot be ordered to look at field conditions

"The most important thing is the safety of tourists, SOPs already have destinations related to rivers, the management has anticipated it if the weather does not allow you not to receive guests," he said.

However, said Oneng again, until now his party has not received reports of how many locations were temporarily closed due to extreme weather.

"So far it is still safe. Once again, we always emphasize the implementation of the SOP for tourist objects, where officers are always on standby in conditions like this. Don't let your guard down," he said.
