15 TPS In Batam Blankspot Zone, KPU Collaborates With Internet Providers To Find Solutions

The Indonesian Consulate General Election Commission (KPU) of Batam City is looking for solutions related to 15 polling stations (TPS) in Batam in the blankspot zone or without an internet network.

The Coordinator of the Batam City KPU Legal and Internal Supervision Division, Bosar Hasibuan, said that his party had coordinated with the Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) and several internet service providers to find telecommunication access solutions for TPS in the blankspot zone.

This needs to be done considering that when recapitulating and reporting the results of the 2024 General Election vote using the Electronic Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) application which requires internet access.

"On the D day of the vote, we will use the Sirekap application, so the plenary paper will be immediately exposed and can be immediately read by the system," said Bosar in Batam, Riau Islands Province (Kepri), Monday, January 22, as reported by Antara.

As another anticipatory measure, the Batam City KPU also provides printed tools (printers) and scanners at the TPS to hold voice arrests.

The Coordinator of the Batam City KPU Planning, Data and Information Division, Adri Wislawawan, added that based on the initial mapping, according to a report from the District Election Committee (PPK) and the Voting Committee (PPS), the data from TPS blankspots throughout Batam City were 69 points.

"Monitoring to nine TPS Batu Merah does not have a blankspot and there are 60 TPS left. From these 60 TPS points, we convey to the Batam City Diskominfo for confirmation, then we conduct a direct survey to the 60 TPS coordinate point," said Adri.

He mentioned that from the results of the Batam City KPU survey, as many as 45 of the 60 polling stations turned out to have internet access, so that the remaining 15 polling stations were in the blankspot zone.
