Chinese Foreigners Oath Become Indonesian Citizens In South Sumatra: I Promise To Release All Loyalty To Foreign Power

SOUTH SUMATRA - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) of South Sumatra (Sumsel) took the oath of a foreign national (WNA) from China Changhong Xue to become an Indonesian citizen (WNI).

"By God Almighty, I promise to release all my loyalty to foreign power, admit, submit and be loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila, and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia," said Changhong Xue during his pledge of allegiance as an Indonesian citizen at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The oath-taking of foreigners from the People's Republic of China (RRC) was directly led by the Head of the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Ilham Djaya.

According to Ilham, taking the oath is the first time at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights since the promulgation of Government Regulation Number 21 of 2022 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation Number 2 of 2007 concerning Procedures for Obtaining, Losing, Cancellation, and Recurring Citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia.

"Congratulations to Changhong Xue for granting the request for Indonesian citizenship," said Kakanwil Ilham Djaya in front of representatives of the Police, Customs, Prosecutor's Office, Disdukcapil and Immigration as the Citizenship/Citizenship Data Verification Team in South Sumatra.

He explained that Changhong Xue had submitted a request for citizenship through the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights since September 2022, but the application file was returned because it used an unauthorized and uncertified document translator.

Then submitted back on February 14, 2023, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra and related agencies have verified the document so as to obtain the approval of the President of the Republic of Indonesia through Decree Number: 17/PWI/2023 concerning the obscenity of applications regarding Indonesian citizenship on November 30, 2023.

Kakanwil Ilham Djaya advised Changhong Xue to become a good Indonesian citizen, contribute to welfare, and obey and obey the applicable rules.
