JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia announced the schedule for the general meeting campaign or the grand campaign of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2024 General Election. On the last day of the grand campaign, two candidate pairs will hold a campaign at the same location, namely Jakarta. Presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar will campaign at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK). However, the KPU does not see this as a problem. "In principle, there is no problem," said KPU RI Commissioner August Mellaz at the KPU RI office, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta, Friday, January 19. "At the end of January, we will schedule a coordination meeting between the candidate pair team, the KPU, and the police. We have communicated intensively with the police, including one of them related to how to engineer the flow," said Mellaz. August explained that the KPU provided flexibility for the three presidential and vice-presidential candidates to determine the location of the special grand campaign for the last three days of the campaign period. "Especially for the last 3 days, there has been a request to then be given flexibility. So, it can be projected that there must be a meeting point," explained Mellaz. It is known that the KPU has set a schedule for grand campaigns or general meetings for 2024 presidential election participants. This determination is stated in KPU Decree Number 78 of 2024 regarding the grand campaign zone which will start on January 21 to February 7, 2024. "The election campaign through the method of general meetings of political parties and pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are divided into three zones," wrote the KPU rules.
