6 Houses In Bantul Damaged By Falling Trees During Heavy Rain

A number of houses in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region were reported to have been damaged by falling trees when heavy rains accompanied by strong winds occurred in the last two days.

Head of Public Relations of the Bantul Police, AKP I Nengah Jeffry Prana Widnyana, said that from the Bhabinkamtibmas report, there were six residents' houses and tourist attractions in various locations that were damaged by falling trees.

The houses that were damaged were in Poncosari Srandakan Village, Kebosunu Dlingo, Karangtalun Imogiri Village, Trimulyo Jetis Village, Argomulyo Sedayu area, and Srihardono Pundong Village.

"The fallen tree also caused two gazebos at the tourist attraction of Lembah Sorori Pelemadu, Sriharjo Village, Imogiri District, to be damaged," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.

In addition, said Jeffry, a fallen tree also occurred on Jalan Mangun Negoro, Patalan Jetis Village, which hit a telephone cable, endangering road users.

Then a fallen tree also occurred on Jalan Kaliurang in the tourist village area of Pinus Asri, Munthuk Village, Dlingo District.

"The police together with the disaster risk reduction forum (FPRB) of the kelurahan and the community carried out community work to evacuate the fallen tree," he said.

From a number of events caused by high-intensity rain accompanied by strong winds, it did not cause casualties. However, the public is advised to be careful when doing activities outside the home when it rains heavily.
