MATARAM - The West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police revealed the case of a student with the initials DA (17) who was suspected of holding and raping his 16-year-old girlfriend.
"Based on the evidence that has been collected, including the victim's post-mortem, investigators have raised the status of DA from witness children to children in conflict with the law," said Director of General Criminal Investigation at the NTB Police, Kombes Syarif Hidayat, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 19.
He explained that the status indicated that DA was a suspect in a sexual violence case.
DA was charged with Article 81 paragraph (1) and/or paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 16D of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2016 concerning Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection into Law or Article 6C of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Criminal Acts of Sexual Violence in conjunction with Article 64 of the Criminal Code.
"Against the child in conflict with the law (suspect DA), we will leave it at the Child Social Rehabilitation Center," he said.
Syarif explained that the suspect DA launched his action by taking advantage of a romantic relationship with the victim.
The first time, the perpetrator launched an action at the end of November 2023 at his colleague's house in the Batu Layar area, West Lombok Regency.
"The first location, the perpetrator launched his evil intentions by inviting the victim to his friend's house. There the victim was forced to enter the room, then sexually assaulted," he said.
Two weeks later, the suspect again asked the victim to meet and get married. However, the victim refused the suspect's invitation.
"At that time, the perpetrators threatened that if they didn't want to get married, the video of the perpetrator's intercourse with the victim would be distributed," said Syarif.

Upon receiving such a threat, the victim finally wanted to meet the suspect in mid-December 2023.
The victim was then taken by the perpetrator to the boarding house in the Batu Layar area and immediately held in the room.
"Because the victim did not want to get married and forced her to go home, the perpetrator was angry and strangled the victim's neck until he fainted. In a state of faintness, the perpetrator again had sex with the victim," he said.
Realizing that he had fainted, the victim forced himself to be sent home by the suspect. However, the suspect took advantage of the invitation by asking to have sex again.
