CIANJUR - Cianjur Police, West Java, arrested a student MR (16), a resident of Cilaku District who carried out a robbery with sharp weapons against a minimarket cashier in Sirnaginalih Village, Cilaku District.

Cilaku Police Chief Kompol Nandang said the perpetrators argued that they were desperate to commit a robbery because they were addicted to online gambling and paid off debts.

"The cashier was heard by residents and the police who were passing by, the perpetrator was immediately arrested and secured to the Cilaku Police Station to account for his actions," said Nandang as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 16.

After undergoing the examination, it was found that the perpetrator was still registered as a grade II student at a vocational school in Cilaku District.

The perpetrators were desperate to carry out a robbery to pay an online gambling debt of Rp. 150,000 to a schoolmate.

"The perpetrator was reckless because he had debts, was addicted to online gambling. When carrying out the action, the perpetrator carried a sharp weapon of the type of machete which had been pointed at the minimarket cashier, fortunately the victim managed to get out of the shop," he said.

The victim, a minimarket cashier who asked for his name to be kept secret, was suspicious of the perpetrator's movements when he entered the minimarket because he went straight to the end of the shelf and had time to go around other shelves such as monitoring the situation.

Not long ago, the perpetrator's actions, which were caught on CCTV in a minimarket, approached the cashier who was busy arranging the goods while handing over the goods he wanted to buy, but suddenly the perpetrator took out a machete pointed at the cashier.

"I immediately jumped when the perpetrator, pointing a machete, was about to approach, I managed to get out and screamed for help, residents and the police managed to catch the perpetrator who had been hiding in the shop," he said.
