East Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office Detains 4 Corruption Suspects In KPN Housing

SAMARINDA - The East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office has detained four suspects in the alleged corruption case of paying compensation for housing compensation for the Civil Servant Cooperative (KPN) by the East Kutai Regency Government in 2019.

"The detention will be carried out for the next 20 days at the Class IIA Rutan Samarinda starting from today until February 5, 2024," said Deputy Head of the East Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office, Roch Adi Wibowo, in Samarinda, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 16.

The detention was carried out after the investigative team found sufficient evidence to determine the status of the suspects to the four people.

The four suspects detained were the former Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of East Kutai Regency with the initials S, the former Secretary of the BPKAD of East Kutai Regency MH, the Commitment Making Officer of the East Kutai Regency BPKAD with the initials D, and the Director of CV Berkat Kaltim with the initials S.

According to Adi Wibowo, this case stems from the default by KPN Tuah Bumi Untung Benua to CV Thanks to East Kalimantan regarding housing development. After going through the civil process, KPN is required to pay compensation to CV Thanks to East Kalimantan.

"However, CV Thanks to East Kalimantan deliberately charged the compensation money to the East Kutai Regency Government, even though it is not the government's obligation," he explained.

Furthermore, said Wakajati, the government through BPKAD budgeted and paid the compensation money to CV Thanks to East Kalimantan from the East Kutai Regional Budget in 2019

As a result of this act, the state suffered a loss of Rp4.98 billion based on the audit report on the calculation of state financial losses by the BPKP Representative for East Kalimantan Province.
