The Police Handed Over The Case Of The Smuggling Of Rohingya Refugees To The Prosecutor

BANDA ACEH - Satreskrim Polresta Banda Aceh handed over the file for the smuggling of Rohingya refugees to Aceh on behalf of the suspect Mohammed Amin to the Aceh Besar District Attorney (Kejari).

"It's true, investigators had been transferred to the prosecutor yesterday by the Tipidter unit to the Aceh Besar Kejari," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Banda Aceh Police, Kompol Fadillah Aditya Pratama, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 16.

The case file for the suspect Mohammed Amin from Myanmar will be examined first by the public prosecutor (JPU) for the next 14 days.

Previously, the Banda Aceh Police Satreskrim had named three suspects, namely Mohammed Amin, MAH and HB related to the alleged criminal act of smuggling 137 Rohingya ethnic groups who were stranded on the coast of Blang Ulam, Aceh Besar in early December 2023.

"Meanwhile, the files for the other two suspects (MAH and HB) are still complete, it is hoped that this week they will also be transferred to the prosecutor," said Fadillah.

For information, the suspect Mohammed Amin is a refugee Camp 1 Blok H-88 Kutupulum, the location of the Rohingya Ethnic Shelter in Cox's Bazar Bangladesh.

Then, MAH, who is a Bangladeshi citizen, and HB born in Myanmar, was also a refugee at the Balokali Cox's Bazar Bangladesh camp.

In the alleged smuggling of Rohingya refugees to Aceh, the three suspects had different roles. Where, Mohammed Amin as the ship's driver, and MAH became his replacement.

The two suspects were also tasked with ensuring that the Rohingya refugees who were brought arrived in Indonesia with compasses.

Meanwhile, the suspect HB acts as a ship engine technician, for his work he gets a salary of 70 thousand Taka ( Bangladesh currency).
