KEPRI - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) stated that the case of distributing Baznas basic food packages containing the name card of a candidate for the Bintan Regency DPRD in the Riau Islands (Kepri) rose to the investigation stage.

Head of Bintan Bawaslu, Sabrima Putra, said the case was handled at the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu).

"Thus, this case has been registered at the Bintan Gakkumdu Center as the finding of an election crime," said the head of the Bintan Bawaslu, Sabrima Putra, in Bintan, Riau Islands, Tuesday, January 16, as reported by Antara.

This was done after his party conducted an investigation by collecting evidence, asking for clarification from a number of witnesses, as well as discussing with the prosecutor's office and the police who are members of the Bintan Gakkumdu Center.

Until now, he said, examination of witnesses continues to collect additional evidence related to the distribution of Baznas basic food packages, in which there is a name card of the candidate for the Bintan DPRD.

Several witnesses were examined and questioned, consisting of elements of residents receiving basic necessities in Bintan Buyu Village, then RT/RW management, Teluk Bintan District, and Bintan Regency Baznas.

Sabrima explained that this case was followed up by Bawaslu after receiving public reports regarding the distribution of food packages assistance from the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Bintan Regency, Tuesday (5/12), for the people of Bintan Buyu Village, Teluk Bintan District, through the Head of RT 10/RW 05.

According to him, in the food aid package, it turned out that one of the candidate candidates for the Bintan Regency DPRD from the Golkar Party, Elyza Riani, was infiltrated.

The card contains a photo of the person concerned along with the sentence of invitation asking for prayers and support from the Bintan DPRD by voting number 9, electoral district or electoral district I, Gunung Kijang District, Toapaya District, Teluk Bintan District and Teluk Sebong District.

"After receiving the residents' reports, we immediately moved to conduct a search in the field, then examined the witnesses concerned in this case," he concluded.
