PEKANBARU - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) is targeting Indonesia to be free of Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) goods vehicles. The Director General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat), Budi Setiyadi, immediately intervened to execute the overloaded trucks.

This was done by Budi when he visited Terminal Type A Bandar Raya Payung Sekaki (BRPS), Pekanbaru. A total of 4 units of vehicles were cut according to the dimensions that have been implemented.

"Now gradually normalization has been carried out in several BPTD areas such as Jambi, Padang, Lampung, and other areas where we hope to prosecute this case," Budi said in his statement, Tuesday, February 16.

According to him, ticketing penalties still do not have a deterrent effect on drivers and freight transport entrepreneurs. Even though the instruments and Article 277 in Law Number 22 Year 2009 already contain substantial fines for the operator and car body.

Furthermore, Director General Budi explained that his party would tighten testing of vehicles in the regions to prevent ODOL vehicles. One of them is through the Minister of Transportation's Regulation the elaboration of the'omnibus law 'so that there is an opportunity for the private sector, repair shop or brand holder agent (APM) to establish testing.

"Most of the ODOL vehicles available are dump trucks. We are currently controlling the testing in districts / cities, if it does not match the accreditation, we will close it while they complete competent equipment and officers, because all of these are directions for safety," he explained.

To achieve an ODOL-free Indonesia in 2023, the Directorate General of Hubdat has carried out various ways to improve the ecosystem from upstream to downstream regarding the improvement of goods transportation through various efforts, including handling ODOL in the form of Law Enforcement at UPPKB and transfer of vehicle loads whose costs are charged to the operator, P21 action against ODOL vehicles , Vehicle Normalization Policy, online vehicle SRUT issuance system to application of Electronic Test Pass Evidence (BLUe) on Motor Vehicle Testing.

Head of the Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD) Region IV of Riau Province - Riau Islands Province, Ardono said that his party had normalized more than 209 vehicle transports from 2019 to January 2021. In an effort to further handle ODOL, BPTD Region IV Riau consistently carried out Supervision and Law Enforcement or Gakum which was carried out on the National Road and on the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road with the results of the fixing of 378 vehicles that committed violations.

Director General Budi also asked related parties that the ODOL issue was a shared responsibility, not to realize too late that this could harm many parties, not only causing casualties but also for the state being disadvantaged by the budget for repairing damaged roads caused by many vehicles that were damaged. breaking ODOL.
