Bengkulu City Government Budgets IDR 1.1 Billion For Road Light Procurement

BENGKULU - The Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot) has budgeted IDR 1.1 billion for the procurement of public street lighting (PJU) in the area. Head of the Bengkulu City Transportation Agency, Hendri Kurniawan, said that the allocation of the road light budget of Rp. 1.1 billion came from the Pokir of a member of the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) of Rp. 600 million and the budget from the Bengkulu City Transportation Agency of Rp. 500 million. "The Bengkulu City Transportation Service has allocated a special budget for the procurement of public street lighting in the Bengkulu City area of Rp. 1.1 billion in 2024," he said in Bengkulu City, Antara, Thursday, January 11. The procurement of PJU was carried out in order to create a safer, more comfortable city for the community and reduce crime incidents at night. Regarding the number of PJU, such as roads on the environmental route that will be changed, it is currently still in the process of being calculated with a target to be completed in the first quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, Hendri explained that in 2023 the Bengkulu City Transportation Agency had installed 520 public street lighting points in the area. The installation of the street lights is located in a number of intersections, main roads and community settlements in nine areas in Bengkulu City. He explained that the street lights that had been installed consisted of five types, namely hotonic 200 watts, hotonic 120 watts, rectal 60 watts, cyclone 90 watts and cyclone 60 watts.

Then, for areas that have not been reached, he asked the public to be patient because the installation of PJU by the Bengkulu City Transportation Agency will be carried out in stages. "We ask the public to be patient in accepting this street lighting program. We realize that there are still many in this city that have not been served or installed with street lights, but rest assured that everything will gradually be installed," he said.
