DPR Calls The Ministry Of Defense's Budget Every Year To Increase Within Reasonable Limits

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the DPR, Dave Laksono, said that the Ministry of Defense's (Kemhan) budget has increased every year within reasonable limits. According to Dave, most of the budget increases are allocated not only for the procurement of defense equipment, but also for the welfare of soldiers.

"The increase did not reach hundreds of trillions, and was mostly used for the welfare of soldiers, the construction of military installations, and the education support for TNI soldiers," said Dave Laksono, Wednesday, January 10.

Responding to statements related to the used defense equipment, Dave explained that only one type included in the former category, while other combat equipment, such as weaponry, warplanes, and ships, was held according to the needs and capabilities needed.

"Most of the equipment purchased includes new items, including operational vehicles, weapons, ammunition, ships, and aircraft. Used goods only include one type, while others use the latest technology," said Dave.

The delayed old type of purchase is still under consideration, but overall, the equipment purchased by the Ministry of Defense is new items with the latest technology.

"It was also postponed due to various kinds of considerations, so so far the goods purchased are new goods with the latest technology and what is clear is that the capabilities and needs are in accordance with the good conditions of the threat and also the needs of the TNI itself," concluded Dave.
