Denies Selecting, KPK Confirms Former Deputy Minister Of Law And Human Rights Eddy Hiariej Will Be Summoned Soon

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the summons of the former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham) Edward Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej will be carried out. He will be detained like a general suspect after being entangled in the alleged receipt of bribes.

"Including the former Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, of course we will schedule (the examination, ed)," said Head of the News Section Ali Fikri to reporters quoted on Wednesday, January 10.

Ali emphasized that Eddy had not yet been detained, nor was this a form of picky handling of corruption cases. This was conveyed because Helmut Hermawan, who is the Director of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri (CLM), has been detained.

"We will process this first because we focus on the completion of the bribe first. Because (the law, ed) gives a maximum time limit of two months (for investigation, ed)," he said.

The KPK promised that all information regarding the case that ensnared Eddy would be submitted. Including the matter of the schedule for summons to be examined.

"Surely the next need will also be to call as a suspect, we will do it," said Ali.

Previously reported, the KPK officially announced Eddy Hiariej as a suspect. He is suspected of receiving up to IDR 8 billion which was divided several times for a number of purposes involving the boss of PT CLM, Helmut Hermawan.

Eddy's first acceptance was made after he agreed to consult the general legal administration of the PT CLM ownership dispute. At that time Helmut gave Rp4 billion.

Then, he also received Rp3 billion to stop the legal process involving Helmut at the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit through the issuance of a letter of termination of investigation (SP3).

Finally, Eddy is suspected of using his power as Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights to unblock PT CLM in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights' Legal Entity Administration System (SABH). He then received Rp1 billion which was used to run for Chairman of the Central Management of the Indonesian Tennis Association (PP Pelti).

The KPK suspects that Eddy made this acceptance through two people as representatives of himself. They are lawyers named Yosi Andika Mulyadi and Yogi Arie Rukmana who are his personal assistants who are also suspects in this case.
