Red Notice Session, Inspector General Napoleon Will Read His Defense

JAKARTA - The trial of alleged bribery for the removal of red notice for Joko Tjandra and the accused, Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte, has entered the defense or pledoi stage. This means that Napoleon will read out the entire defense of the demands of 3 years imprisonment in the case.

Based on data from the Central Jakarta Court Case Tracking Information System (SIIP) website, the trial registered with Number 46/Pid.Sus-TPK/2020/ PN Jkt.Pst will take place at 10.00 WIB.

"(Agenda) defense or pledoi. (Taking place) Monday, February 22", wrote the site quoted by VOI, Monday, February 22.

Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte was charged with imprisonment for 3 years. Also, he was asked to pay a fine of IDR 100 million, a subsidiary of 6 months.

"To charge with imprisonment for 3 years with an order that the defendant is detained in a detention center", said the prosecutor during a trial at the Corruption Court, Central Jakarta, February 15.

The prosecutor's decision regarding the charges against Inspector General Napoleon was based on two considerations. Both things are burdensome and lighten.

For burdensome things, Inspector General Napoleon is considered not to support the government in eradicating corruption, collusion, and nepotism. The defendant's actions damaged the public's trust in law enforcement agencies.

"As a relief, the defendant was cooperative during the trial. Then the defendant had only committed a crime once", he said.

In this case, Inspector General Napoleon was said to have accepted bribes from Joko Tjandra. The bribe was intended to remove Joko Tjandra's name from the red notice list.

When receiving the bribe, Inspector General Napoleon was still the Head of the International Relations Division of the National Police. He is said to have received 200 thousand Singapore dollars and 370 thousand US dollars from Tommy Sumardi.

Inspector General Napoleon Bonaparte was charged with accepting bribes together with Brigadier General Prasetijo, who at that time served as Head of the PPNS Police Supervisory Coordinator Bureau. However, in the charge, Brigadier General Prasetijo is said to have received 100 thousand US dollars.
