West Bangka KPU Finds Hundreds Of Damaged Voice Letters When Sorting

The General Election Commission (KPU) of West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, found hundreds of ballots damaged during the sorting and multiplicating of ballots to be used in the 2024 General Election. "We have carried out the sorting and multiplicating process of ballots since January 4, 2024. In this process, officers have carried out their work carefully and professionally in order to be able to carry out their duties according to operational standards and finish on time," said West Bangka Regency KPU member Dwi Aprianto in Mentok, Antara, Monday, January 8. He said the officers started the work by conducting sorting and multiplicating ballots for the selection of members of the DPD RI and DPR RI, followed by a ballot for the election of the Provincial DPRD of Babel. In the process of sorting and multiplicating DPD and DPR RI ballots, officers found 749 ballots that were categorized as damaged, consisting of 263 DPD RI ballots and 486 DPR RI ballots. "The two types of ballots have been completed and we are currently sorting and multiplicating the voting letter of the DPRD of Babel Province," The results of the recapitulation of the DPD RI ballots, recorded 263 broken ballots, 151,274 good ballots, so there was a shortage of 360 pieces. As for the DPR RI ballots, it was found that 486 ballots were damaged, 151,525 in good condition and 109 shortfalls. Although 749 ballots were found, the sorting process and the multiplicating of ballots will continue to be implemented and targeted for completion within seven days starting from the beginning. "We will first complete the sorting and multiplicating processes of all ballots, then a sorting and counting ballots will be made according to the real conditions in the field. Then submitted to the Indonesian KPU and the Babel Provincial KPU to fulfill the lack of ballots," he said. Based on data on the recapitulation of logistical revenues at the West Bangka KPU, the total number of presidential-vice presidential election letters is 151,634 sheets plus ballots for the re-voting of 1,000 sheets. This amount is the same as the number of ballots to be used for the election of the DPR RI, DPD RI and DPRD Babel Province.

As for the election letter for the West Bangka Regency DPRD, there are four types according to the electoral district, namely electoral district I as many as 39,612 pieces, electoral district II (23,728 sheets), electoral district III (43,503 pieces), and electoral district IV (48,791 pieces).
