Jokowi Responds To Anies' Statement Comparing The Increase In ASN Salaries In The SBY Era

DEPOK - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) responded to the statement of presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan in the debate of the three presidential candidates who said the increase in the salaries of state civil servants (ASN) in the SBY era was more than in the current government era.

According to Jokowi, the fiscal and economic situation in each era varies, so the policy of increasing ASN salaries requires careful calculation.

"Our fiscal situation, the economic situation is different, we decided to raise it and it is uncertain with careful consideration," said Jokowi after inaugurating the Pamulang-Cinere-Raya Bogor Toll Road at the Limo Utama Toll Gate, West Java, Monday, January 8.

Jokowi explained that the economic situation in the current government era faces many challenges, including Covid-19, trade wars and geopolitical situations.

"Yes, it is impossible for us to do all of them. With careful consideration and calculations," said Jokowi.

Previously, in one of the three presidential candidates' debate sessions, Anies said that during the SBY administration, ASN had increased their salaries nine times in two government periods. Meanwhile, in the Jokowi era, for 9 years there were only three times the increase in ASN salaries.
