Presidential Campaign's First Speech 2024, Biden Directly Sentil Trump

JAKARTA - Entering the 2024 presidential campaign period, United States President Joe Biden delivered his first official speech by emphasizing the real difference between him and Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump.

In his speech, Biden said the future of American democracy was at stake in elections in November.

Speaking on the eve of the three-year anniversary of the riots at the Capitol Building that took place on January 6, 2021, Biden accused Trump's political allies of "telling the truth and democracy" by maintaining their support for Trump after the Capitol riots.

"They have made their choice. Now we all, from the Democratic, Independent, and mainstream Republicans, must make our choice. I know my choice," Biden said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 6.

"And I'm sure, I know Americans will defend the truth, will not believe in big lies, and will accept constitutional decisions," he told his supporters in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"There's no doubt about who Trump is and what he's going to do," added Biden.

Biden said the November 5 elections were about the future of American democracy, and that Trump was a threat to the democracy.

Biden repeatedly mentioned the January 6 attack in his speech. He said that the attack involving thousands of Trump supporters was an attempt to prevent a peaceful transfer of power.

Hours before the attack broke out, Trump addressed the crowd and said the election had been "stealed" from them. He also made false claims that there was widespread election fraud.

"We are all here, today, we don't want our election victory to be stolen by the brave left-wing Democrats, and that's what they're doing," Trump said three years ago.

Trump's claim has been repeatedly rejected by the court, including by the attorney general at the time, Bill Barr.

Trump is being charged with federal criminal charges for his role in the January 6 riots and his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 election results. This case is only one of the five cases that ensnared him as he is preparing to run again in the 2024 election.
