During December 2023, The Number Of Dengue Fever Cases In South Lampung Rose Sharply

LAMPUNG SELATAN - During December 2023, the South Lampung District Health Office (Dinkes) recorded an increase in the number of cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in its area.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the South Lampung Health Office, Jamaluddin, in Kalianda, Saturday, said that his party had recorded the number of dengue cases in December 2023, there were 13 new cases that had been handled.

"There has been an increase in dengue cases. When viewed from the number of cases in November, there were only seven cases, while in December there were 13 cases," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 6.

Throughout 2023, his party has handled 152 dengue cases.

In order to prevent and anticipate a further spike in dengue cases, his party will intensify the eradication of mosquito nests and socialize the implementation of clean and healthy living.

"To deal with the changing seasons, there is the potential for increased dengue cases. So we are aggressively taking precautions by socializing Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN), Monitoring Periodic Microscopy (PJB) and conducting Epidemiological Investigations (PE) and doing fogging if according to the criteria of PE results to break the chain of transmission," he said.

He said the main reason for the existence of mosquitoes that spread dengue fever is living in an environment that is not clean, so the application of a healthy lifestyle is very important, especially in places that have the potential to become mosquito nests.

Therefore, he said, to prevent more and more residents from contracting dengue fever, his party appealed to and invited the public to increase their vigilance through 3M Plus, namely closing, draining, and burying, as well as implementing Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS).

"Always increase the role of the community with PSN activities with 3M Plus, once a week drains, closes, and recycles used goods that can become a place for mosquito longing," he said.

In addition, he said to prevent the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, the community could take precautions, such as applying anti-bow liquid in several parts of the body while doing activities inside and outside the house or going to sleep.

If there are people who experience fever, fever for no apparent reason, he said, immediately check themselves at the nearest health care facility.

"If there are symptoms of fever and after treatment there are no changes, immediately come back to the nearest health service for further examination, whether you have DHF, especially in the vicinity of the residence that has been affected by dengue fever," he concluded.
