1,722 East Jakarta Residents Still Displaced, 5 People Died, Including The Elderly Locked At Home

JAKARTA - Floods that occur due to continuous rain on Friday, February 19 to Saturday, February 20 have displaced 1,722 residents of East Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has also prepared 10 refugee camps.

"The number of refugees is 1,772 out of 514 families. All of them are from the East Jakarta area and there are 10 refugee locations that are also being prepared in the East Jakarta area," said Acting Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Province Sabdo Kurnianto in a written statement, Sunday, February 21.

In addition, he reported that a number of areas in Jakarta had begun to recede and in Central Jakarta, all flooded areas had receded on Saturday, February 20 at 21.30 WIB.

"Overall, there are 49 RTs that are still affected from a total of 30,470 RTs in Jakarta, or 0.161 percent. The total number of refugees is 1,722 out of 514 families, all of whom are from the East Jakarta area. And there are still 10 refugee locations that are also being prepared in the Jakarta area. East, "he said.

As a result of the floods that hit DKI Jakarta, Sabdo also reported that five people had died. One of them is an elderly citizen (elderly) who are male because they are locked in the house.

"The victim is a 67-year-old male who is locked in the house in Jatipadang, South Jakarta," he said.

Meanwhile, four of them were three boys who were swept away by the flood while playing in South Jakarta and West Jakarta. "And a seven year old girl who drowned in West Jakarta," he explained.

Furthermore, BPBD has also distributed food and equipment for the flood cleaning process this morning. This was done in accordance with the instructions of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan.

At present, the ranks of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government are still collaborating with elements of the TNI / Polri, local villages, volunteers, and the community is on standby to prepare all their potential for handling floods and inundation, while still prioritizing safety of their souls.

Cross-agency collaboration is carried out by the Water Resources Office, Disgulkarmat, the Environmental Service, and the PPSU in the sub-district so that the handling of inundations and floods can recede quickly, and there are no casualties. In addition, this coordination also intensively monitors weather developments to respond quickly whatever the conditions are, and draws strength from various resources.

"The public is advised to remain vigilant. In case of an emergency, they can contact Call Center 112. As well as report if they find inundation / flooding through the JAKI application and disaster maps, and the community is encouraged to continue implementing the 3M health protocol," said Sabdo.
