Responds Garut Satpol PP Members Support Cawapres, AMIN National Team Questions Bawaslu's Firmness

JAKARTA - The National Team (Timnas) Pemenangan Anies-Muhaimin (AMIN) asked the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) to be more assertive towards the state civil apparatus (ASN) who violate the neutrality of the 2024 General Election.

This was said by Billy in response to the viral ASN from the Garut Regency Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) making a video of support for the candidate for vice president (cawapres) number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"We regret the incident and of course Bawaslu or KPU (General Election Commission), who are responsible for this, must take the necessary actions," said AMIN National Team Spokesperson Billy David Neututumilena, in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 3, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the AMIN national team always prioritizes and supports the enforcement of ASN neutrality, even for members of the National Police and the TNI.

Furthermore, he said that a clear act that violated the rules should not have happened, because everything had been regulated in accordance with Regulation Number 5 of 2014 concerning ASN, where ASN was prohibited from engaging in practical politics.

In addition, Bawaslu also has the authority to supervise the neutrality of ASN in accordance with Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections, so that it must really be carried out.

The act of not neutralizing ASN personnel will certainly tarnish the name of the institution. Thus, it will not only have a negative impact on Garut Satpol PP, but also for all institutions throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, in social media, a 19-second video circulated showing a number of members of the Garut Satpol PP declaring themselves to support Gibran.

The Garut Regency Satpol PP has also followed up and asked for information from the members concerned regarding the making of the support video. KPU has received the registration of three presidential and vice presidential candidates, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The election campaign period is set from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, while the voting is scheduled for February 14, 2024.
