TANGERANG - Directorate General (Dirjen) of Immigration has now added 78 new autogates at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday 3 January. Dozens of autogates are similar to those used at Doha Airport, Qatar.

Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Silmy Karim said this new autogate was located at Terminal 3 with a total of 52 arrival autogates and 16 departure autogates. While the remaining 10 autogates are at Terminal 2, 5 autogates each at the arrival and departure terminals.

"This tool can be used, both by Indonesian citizens and foreigners. Autogate also integrates Face Recognition technology with Border Control Management (BCM) which supports immigration supervision at crossings," he said in Tangerang, Wednesday, January 3, quoted by Antara.

According to him, for the use of autogates for foreign nationals (WNA) they are required to use an electronic passport and already have visas, including Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) or Electronic Visa (e-Visa) which is submitted through the evisa.imigration.go.id website.

Foreigners from 10 visa-free subject countries or ASEAN member countries are required to register the BVK application at evisa.imigration.go.id.

"Foreigners can also scan the barcodes around Soekarno-Hatta Airport and register via the available links to be able to pass using an autogate," he said.

Meanwhile, Indonesian citizens who provide autogate services can be used by holders of ordinary passports or non-electronic passports. When undergoing immigration checks by autogate, users must make sure all parts of the face are clearly visible.

"Accessors such as hats, masks or others that cover faces must be removed first. Passport cover must also be opened before scanning (scan)," he said.

After scanning the passport biodata page, the user faces on the screen at the front for facial scanning or face recognition.

"If it is scanned and the system does not show suspicious information, the autogate door will open and users can immediately continue their journey," he said.

Silmy added that in the near future the Directorate General of Immigration will also install an autogate at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali and in Batam, Riau Islands.

"The determination of the two immigration checkpoints is to be based on the high volume of traffic," he said.

He added that the operation of this new autogate was also prepared a special place for prospective arrivals or departures from the disabled group.

"Here we provide two, each of which is in departure and in arrival which is specifically for disabled groups using wheelchairs," he said.
