Bring Explosives For Illegal Mining, Soerang Men Arrested By Tabalong Police

JAKARTA - The Tabalong Resort Police, South Kalimantan, arrested a resident of Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, MR (30) for carrying an explosive 'Amonium nitrate' and a roll of cables.

Based on the confession, the suspect received ammonia nitrate from an explosives company in Central Kalimantan Province, PT Austin Powder.

After an investigation, it was discovered that MR worked as a driver at the company, and brought the explosives mixture without the company's management permission.

Tabalong Police Chief AKBP Anib Bastian said officers arrested the suspect MR during a raid in front of the Tanjung Police office, Jakung Village.

"During the arrest, the suspect MR carried five bottles of one liter bottled mineral water containing 'Amonium nitrate' and one roll of cable," said Aniba, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, January 1.

Head of the Tabalong Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Galih Putra Wiratama, said the ammonia nitrate was allegedly used for making explosives to support illegal mining activities.

"The suspect admitted that Amonium nitrate was brought for agricultural purposes, but we suspect it was related to illegal mining activities," said Galih.

Furthermore, the suspect MR is suspected of Article 1 paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with the threat of the death penalty or life imprisonment or a temporary prison sentence of up to 20 years.
