Electricity Burden On New Year's Eve 2024 In Jakarta Is Predicted To Increase 8 Percent From Last Year

JAKARTA - General Manager of PLN Jakarta Raya Lasiran Distribution Main Unit predicts the peak electricity load during the 2024 New Year's Eve celebration in Jakarta will increase from last year.

"Our prediction is that the peak load on December 31, 2023 is 3,760 kVA, this is an 8 percent increase compared to December 31, 2022. However, we make sure the electricity supply is sufficient," Lasiran said in his statement, Sunday, December 31.

To anticipate this, PLN UID Jakarta Raya supplies 9,062 MW supplied from 6 different subsystems. So according to Lasiran, the increase in electricity supply needs on New Year's Eve is still very sufficient.

On the one hand, PLN has formed a standby team to ensure that the electricity distribution network is in safe condition, especially to adapt supplies to various crowded points and essential supply security (VIP) around Jakarta.

"We also make sure personnel and equipment are in good condition and ready to operate when needed," he said.

PLN UID Jakarta Raya deployed 2,356 personnel consisting of employees and power transfer personnel on standby at 17 standby posts during New Year's Eve.

Various equipment was prepared, including 20 units of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with a capacity of 6,220 kVA, 21 units of mobile substations (UGB) with a capacity of 14,480 kVA, 8 units of mobile abelian (UKB) with a capacity of 3,965 meters, 3 units of generator capacity of 975 kVA, 19 units of mobile transformer (UTB) capacity of 7,860 kVA, 4 units of crane, and 7 units of disorder detection car.

There are several monitoring points during the turn of New Year's Eve this time, including several crowded points such as Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, National Monument, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta International Expo, and the Ancol area.

Not only that, several access homecomings such as Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Gambir Station, Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta City Station, and Pulo Gebang Terminal are also monitored for electricity supplies.

"A total of 48 locations for public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) with 79 chargers, 43 public electric vehicle charging station points (SPBKLU), and 3,200 public electric charging station points (SPLU) are also prepared to support the electricity needs of electric vehicle users," he added.
