Preventing KPPS Officers From Donating, Jokowi Calls Recruitment Of Field Officers For The 2024 Election Dominated By Young People

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said field officials in the 2024 election were strengthened by the dominance of youth groups to support the process of voting which requires high stamina.

"Yes, this is indeed a big job. But I see that yesterday's recruitment has been chosen by many young people who have better health conditions," Jokowi said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 30.

This statement was made by President Jokowi in response to questions related to anticipatory steps so that the events of the 2019 election organizers who died due to fatigue would not be repeated in the 2024 General Election.

A total of 894 election organizers in 2019 died and 5,175 other officers were reported to be sick.

Jokowi said the election was a big job and had complex challenges involving 204,807,222 people, in 38 provinces 514 districts and cities, 7,277 sub-districts, and 83,771 villages.

The activity also involved 18 national political parties and six local Acehnese parties for executive elections, the House of Representatives, the Regional Representative Council, the Provincial and Regency/City House of Representatives.

"I can't imagine how complex our election is," he said.

The big blasphemy, said Jokowi, demands high stamina from the field administrators who will work in a long duration.

"Because this is a big job, from morning, maybe until morning again, especially there it's hard," he said.

The President then reminded that the 2024 election voting process now only has 45 days left.

"This requires all ranks of the KPU from the center to the regions to be ready to carry out elections that are honest, fair, and trusted by the people," he said.
