Anies: Local Government Must Be Neutral, Facilitate Campaigns For All Participants In The 2024 Election

Presidential Candidate Anies Baswedan said local governments should facilitate the 2024 election participant campaign because this activity is the constitutional task of democracy.

"In democratic, one of the processes carried out is the election process, and in the election there are campaign activities. So, campaign activities carry out the constitution, part of democracy, not in a place to be prohibited, it must be facilitated," Anies said in a written statement quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 29.

Anies said this after a meeting with Tuban and Bojonegoro figures at the Bahrul Huda Islamic Boarding School, Tuban Regency, East Java.

He assessed that the process of licensing for campaign activities was different from obtaining permits for non-election activities such as grand meetings, concerts, and mass gathering of community organizations. This is because campaigns are state activities.

With the local government facilitating campaign activities participating in the 2024 General Election, including candidate pairs, according to him, it can prove neutrality from the local government.

"In fact, to prove neutrality, all must be facilitated equally," he said.
