Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Frees Family Members To Determine Their Own Choices In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said he freed his family to elect a presidential and vice presidential candidate pair in the 2024 election according to their respective wishes.

"I invite the children where to choose. They already have their own sizes," said the Vice President at the One Table of The Kompas TV Forum entitled 'Publik Must Supervise Elections', which aired Wednesday, December 27 evening, as stated in a press release received in Jakarta, Thursday, December 28.

The Vice President emphasized that he in public will always be neutral as Vice President. However, as a person and citizen who has the right to vote, he will make his choice later in the voter.

I call it that the kiai language is called the emrun syakhshiyun bolbiyun, it's a matter of heart and personality. That's why I put it in place for the public, I am neutral. I will not show endorsement (support) to certain candidates," he explained.

As for according to religious orders, said the Vice President, he would only urge the people to choose the best candidates for leadership (afdhal).

"Because if you choose something that is not afdhal, even though there are afdhals, in religion they are called betrayed to Allah, to the Apostle, and to the community," he said.

The criteria for these afdhal leaders, according to the Vice President, refer to the general criteria that apply in society.

Regarding the three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates who contested the 2024 General Election, the Vice President stated that the three had formally met the requirements, so the community only had to compare to determine which one was the best.

"In general, if it has passed verification, it has become a candidate, yes of course it meets the formal requirements. Materially, of course, it is another thing. But formally it has been fulfilled, that's why he passed. Just choose between the good, formally pass it, among the best," he said.
