Ganjar Meets Sultan HB X To Discuss National Conduciveness

YOGYAKARTA - Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo met with the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X at Gedhong Wilis, the Kepatihan Office complex, Yogyakarta, to stay in touch and discuss the nation's problems.

"About the development of the nation's country. I'm going to school here (Yogyakarta), a long time here. He's an elder, there's a lot of advice about today's situation that we need to maintain conduciveness. That's all," said Ganjar after meeting Sultan HB X for about two hours, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

Ganjar explained that various aspects were also discussed with Sultan HB X, ranging from international issues, economics, to defense.

"Yes, earlier (about) the change in the world which is very 'turbulence', disruption occurs, and Indonesia needs to put its position in the international dynamics but don't forget the national interest. There are many aspects, 'polugri' (foreign politics) is there, the economy is there, the defense is there, complete," he said.

Ganjar denied that the topic of discussion with the Sultan was part of his preparation for the upcoming presidential candidate debate session. "Yes, no, the debate is training itself," said Ganjar.

He acknowledged that this opportunity was also used to ask for the blessing of the King of the Yogyakarta Palace.

"We always meet elders, we ask for blessings. The main thing is the blessing for any safety, yes the nomination, yes this nation, all of them," he said.

In addition, Ganjar dismissed himself from asking for special support regarding his candidacy to Sultan HB X.

"What support? We ask the entire people of Yogyakarta for their support," he said.

The meeting between Ganjar and Sultan HB X at Gedhong Wilis, Kepatihan took place behind closed doors from around 16.00 WIB to 18.05 WIB.

"I'm from Solo there is an event here, I made an appointment with him. I used to want to stay in touch but only got the opportunity today," said Ganjar.

Meanwhile, Sultan HB X admitted that Ganjar Pranowo was the first presidential candidate to participate in the 2024 General Election to specifically meet him.

He emphasized that as a state servant he is bound by a law (UU) that does not allow providing support to one of the presidential candidates.

"I'm a 'dudu' (not a) party cadre, you know. There is a law prohibiting. Yes, Mr. Ganjar wants to meet, I accept it, indeed (the plan) has been a long time. Just talk," said Sultan HB X.
