Jokowi Allows Pawn Residents As Long As They Are Able To Pay Installments

SIDOARJO - President Joko Widodo invites the public to pawn land certificates as long as the money is used for productive activities and has the ability to pay installments.

"If you want this certificate to be sent to school, please go to school, it's okay, but I really ask to count it, what to go to school for," said President Joko Widodo at the Land Certificate Submission event for the People of East Java Province at GOR Delta, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

President Jokowi asked the public to really calculate the source of income and the ability to pay installments and loan interest before deciding to pawn the land certificate that the President had just symbolically distributed to 4,000 residents in East Java. "But it's still calculated carefully how much you want to borrow, Rp. 10 million, Rp. 100 million, Rp. 200 million can be calculated, can you pay in installments and flowers in installments? Don't let you hold the certificate because you don't count, don't count, borrow, give it, it turns out that 6 months you can't pay installments to the bank, the certificate is gone. Don't let that happen," he said.

Jokowi said 4,000 certificates consisting of 3,200 land certificates from the PTSL program and 800 recipients of land redistribution certificates distributed were the government's efforts through the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) to provide evidence of legal rights to land owners.

The President admitted that he was disappointed if the government's efforts were in vain because the public was not wise in pawning land certificates and determining the nominal loan.

"Please make this a collateral, it will be used as a collateral, it will be used as a colateral, but once again everything is calculated. If you sell it, how much is the revenue from the sale, how much can you make it, can you pay installments or not, everything is calculated. I don't want the certificate to have worked hard to prepare this, but your wife's certificate will be confiscated by the bank, no, I want this certificate to be prosperous," he said.

The Ministry of ATR/BPN recorded the progress of land registration in Indonesia itself, of the total target of 126 million plots of land, so far 110 million plots of land have been registered, of which 90.1 million plots of land have been certified.

Meanwhile, for East Java, from the estimated total land area of 19.9 million plots, 16.5 million of them have been registered and the remaining 3.4 million plots of land have not been registered.

From the land registration process, there has been an increase in economic value. Since its implementation in 2017, the increase in economic value from the results of land segregation reached Rp6,066.7 trillion and 96 percent has been circulating in the community through Mortgages. Especially for the addition of economic value in East Java in 2022 alone, it reached Rp116.6 trillion and 95 percent circulated in the community through Rights.
