JAKARTA - Perum Bulog Public Relations and Institutional Manager Tomi Wijaya explained the chronology of videos of workers playing with rice in Bulog's warehouse which went viral and became the talk of netizens.

"The video took place at the Bulog Warehouse of Banjar Kemantren 2 North Surabaya on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, during the process of re-ferring the torn rice due to the process of handling the imported rice from the ship to the warehouse," said Tomi, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

Furthermore, the rice will go through reprocessing at Bulog's Ring to Rice (RtR) machine.

Tomi said he had taken firm action against the workers' actions. He also emphasized that his party is committed to providing the best service and product quality for the community. Thus, the company will take firm action against these efforts that are contrary to this commitment.

"We have investigated and taken firm action regarding the actions of the workers at the North Surabaya Banjar Kemantren Warehouse," said Tomi.

Previously, a viral video of workers wearing clothes playing with rice by rolling over, and pouring rice in the middle of a stretch of rice seemed to be taking a shower. The video has become a topic of conversation on social media.

Apart from the viral video, Perum Bulog ensures that the government's rice reserves for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 are very safe.

Currently, Bulog's stock reaches 1.4 million tons. With this amount, and added import assignments from the government, the needs of Christmas and New Year are increasingly maintained.

The stock of 1.4 million tons will also be used for distribution until next year to maintain rice price stability in the community.
