NGANJUK - As many as 44 landslide victims in Selopuro Hamlet, Ngetos Village, Nganjuk, East Java, were poisoned by mass. They were suspected of being poisoned after eating food provided by the regulators.

"Dozens of poisoned victims are suspected of eating ready-to-eat food from donors. So it is not poisoning from food from the post, but from donors," said the Head of Social Service for Nganjuk Regency, Nafhan, confirmed on Friday, February 19.

Based on preliminary data, the total number of poisoned refugees reached 44 people. In detail, three people were treated at Nganjuk Hospital, one at Bhayangkara Nganjuk Hospital, seven people at the Puskesmas, 33 people were outpatients and returned to the Refugee Command Post in Ngetos. "The victims of poisoning are all adults, there are no children," he said.

According to Nafhan, the cause of poisoning was because the refugees ate snacks from donors. "Presumably because of snacks from donors," he said.

Nafhan also claimed that the cause of poisoning was not the food processed by the Ministry of Social Affairs' Tagana in the Public Kitchen. Because food or rice from soup kitchens has been distributed since late afternoon.

Meanwhile, the mass poisoning incident occurred at 23.00 WIB a few hours after snacks from donors were distributed at 20.00 WIB. "The distribution of food from public kitchens has started in the afternoon. But snacks from donors arrive around 20.00 WIB," he said.

Refugees who were victims of the Selopuro landslide were placed at SDN Ngetos 3 Ngetos. There are 100 adult refugees and 41 child refugees.
