Rehabilitation Police For Young Women Who Become Suspects For Killing The Rapist

KUPANG - The South Central Timor Police (TTS) East Nusa Tenggara rehabilitated a young woman who became a suspect for killing a man with the initials ND (48) when she was about to be raped for the second time.

"Currently MSK has been secured and rehabilitated at the Center for Social Rehabilitation of Children Needing Special Protection (BRSAMPK) in order to get assistance from psychologists and policewomen of the NTT Polda PPA and TTS Police," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Regional Police, Kombes Rishian Krisna B, quoted on Friday , 19 December.

Krisna said this young woman was not detained for her actions. However, the police secured them because they did not want the victim's family to take justice into their own hands.

In addition, the rehabilitation carried out for young women is carried out as an investigation effort by prioritizing the principles of protecting human rights.

Moreover, the suspect is still 15 years old and a child. He said that the handling must still be based on the Child Protection Law and the Child Criminal Justice System Law.

During the rehabilitation period, the police also tried to ask the suspect for statements to find the cause and effect of the incident.

"The victim admitted that he had sex with the victim in May 2020," said Krisna according to the results of the interim examination.

The perpetrator told the police that the incident occurred when the victim came to the perpetrator's house to buy liquor, Wednesday, February 10.

At that time the ND victim had invited the suspect to meet on the beach, which was 20 meters from the scene of the incident.

The girl said yes and went to follow the victim with a knife and machete in her back pocket.

"Arriving at the place promised, the victim was waiting for the suspect. According to the suspect's confession, the two of them had intercourse once during the meeting," said the Head of Public Relations.

A few moments later, after having intercourse, the victim invited the suspect to have sex again. But the suspect did not want to and at that time the victim forced the suspect.

The young woman immediately stabbed the victim using the knife that was kept.

"After the stabbing, the suspect left the stabbed victim," said Krisna.

This young woman was charged under Article 338 of the Criminal Code, a subsidiary of Article 351 (3) of the Criminal Code.

"So investigators do not only carry out an investigation process based on the Criminal Code alone, but also pay attention to and implement the Law on Child Protection and the Law on the Criminal Justice System for Children," said Kombes Krisna.
