Celebration Of New Year's Eve 2024, Forkopimda Banda Aceh Urges Residents Not To Celebrate It

BANDA ACEH - Soon 2023 will change. People around the world will soon celebrate the new year 2024.

However, the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) of Banda Aceh City appealed to people in the capital city of Aceh province not to celebrate New Year's Eve in 2024.

"Representing Forkopimda, I invite the public to welcome the turn of the year with customers," said Acting Mayor of Banda Aceh Amiruddin, in Banda Aceh, Saturday.

Amiruddin conveyed this appeal after holding a 2024 Christmas and New Year's security monitoring meeting (Nataru) with Forkopimda plus elements at the Banda Aceh Mayor's pavilion.

Amiruddin said that apart from being inconsistent with the customs and sharia of Islam that apply in Aceh, celebrating New Year's Eve by blowing trumpets, burning firecrackers and fireworks, as well as other fun activities will only disturb public order and comfort.

"Let's increase our gratitude as well as self-introspection, instead of carrying out activities that are contrary to Islamic customs and sharia that apply in our area," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 23.

The public's appeal not to blow trumpets, burn firecrackers, the fireworks have never been exemplified by the parents. In addition, it is also to honor Christians who worship in their respective churches.

Reflecting on previous years, Amiruddin is optimistic that there will be no euphoria for the celebration of the new year's Eve in Banda Aceh.

"Actually, it has become a culture in our city and Aceh in general, in the last decade that people no longer celebrate New Year's Eve," he said.

However, Amiruddin together with Forkopimda Banda Aceh continued to carry out joint patrols on New Year's Eve to ensure the situation was conducive.

"Let's protect our beloved city from things that don't reflect the Earth of Serambi Mecca," said Amiruddin.
