Korlantas Polri Will Implement Contraflow Scheme For The West-Subang Karawang Toll Road Today

JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police will implement a contraflow scheme on toll roads to prevent congestion during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays. Traffic engineering began to be implemented today.

"If the schedule starts tomorrow (today), 22 (December) at 14 o'clock, this is a schedule," said Head of Traffic Police Brigadier General Aan Suhanan to reporters quoted on Friday, December 22.

However, the implementation of the contraflow scheme will be situational. This means that traffic engineering will be carried out when officers assess that the flow of vehicles has started to become congested.

"But if the situation may start to touch 5,500 at 10 o'clock, we have to contraflow," he said.

"But on the other hand, if at 2 o'clock the figure has not been entered, we will still use the regular route," continued Aan.

Based on the results of monitoring, Aan said that there had been an increase in the number of vehicles crossing the toll road as of December 20. The increase reached 13 percent.

However, the increase is said to be still within normal limits. Thus, no traffic engineering has been required.

"Indeed, there is an increase of about 13 percent to the east, to the west there is also a Sumatra towards the Bandung as well. There is a tendency to increase from last Friday until yesterday, 13 percent," said Aan.

For information, the implementation of the contraflow system is contained in SKB Number: KP-DRJD 8298 Year 2023, SKB: 218/XII/2023, and Number: 19/PKS/Db/2023.
