Aceh Police Air Patrol Monitors Waters To Anticipate The Arrival Of Rohingya Immigrants

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Regional Police carried out air patrols to monitor the arrival of illegal immigrants, including the Rohingya ethnic group, who had been arriving for the western tip of Indonesia for the past month.

Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Kombes Joko Krisdiyanto, said that air patrols using helicopters were directly led by the Aceh Police Chief Inspector General Achmad Kartiko.

"The Aceh Police Chief is carrying out air patrols to monitor the situation of the waters in order to anticipate the arrival of Rohing immigrants," said Joko Krisdiyanto as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 20.

The patrol carried out by the Aceh Police Chief is an effort and form of responsibility for security as many Rohingya immigrants enter a number of areas in Aceh Province.

"The air patrol carried out by the Kapolda is a form of responsibility for the conducive atmosphere of security in the Aceh region, especially in the midst of the rampant arrival of Rohingya immigrants in several coastal locations of Aceh," said Joko Krisdiyanto.

The Aceh Police Chief carried out air patrols using the AW 169 Police helicopter. During the patrol, the two-star police general was accompanied by a number of main officials from the Aceh Police.

Air patrols, said Joko Krisdiyanto, follow the eastern coastal waters of Aceh Province which include Banda Aceh City, Aceh Besar District, Pidie Regency, Pidie Jaya Regency, Bireuen Regency, and Lhokseumawe City.

"The waters monitored by air have the potential to become the entry route for Rohingya immigrants, from Banda Aceh to Lhokseumawe," he said.

In addition to the waters on the east coast of Aceh Province, air patrols will be carried out in other areas that have the potential to land Rohingya immigrants.

"We urge the public to come together to maintain security and order, including not committing anarchic actions against Rohingya immigrants," said Joko.
