CIANJUR - Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park Center (TNGGP) Cianjur, West Java, closed the climb for the next three months from December 31, 2023 to March 31, 2024, in order to restore the ecosystem.

Head of the TNGGP Center, Sapto Aji Prabowo, said that every year climbing to TNGGP is routinely closed due to extreme weather and ecosystem recovery in national parks.

"The climb will be closed for the next three months starting December 31. In order to avoid illegal climbing, we have alerted dozens of officers at a number of points in anticipation," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 20.

During the closure, he stressed, there was no climbing that could be done from the official route in the Cianjur area such as Gunung Putri and the Cibodas entrance and the entrance from Salabintana-Sukabumi because a number of officers were alerted.

Meanwhile, prospective climbers who have registered online for December 29 and 30, can still climb but are required to have paid no later than December 28, 2023.
