New Cases Of COVID-19 In Malaysia Reach 20,696

JAKARTA - The Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) recorded the number of 20,696 new cases of COVID-19 on 10-16 December 2023 (MME 50/2023) with the number of deaths reaching 28 cases.

Malaysian Health Minister Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad said there was an increase of 62.2 percent when compared to the number of cases reported in ME 49/2023.

Of the total number of new COVID-19 cases, 20,677 local cases of which 97.1 percent are Malaysians, while the remaining 609 people are foreigners.

Meanwhile, the number of imported COVID-19 cases was recorded at 19 where 18 people were Malaysian citizens and one person was a foreigner. While the number of clusters reached 18.

There are 151 patients in Malaysia who need treatment in the ICU, while those who need breathing apparatus reach 96 cases.

Meanwhile, data on active cases on the KKMNow website belonging to KKM on Saturday (16/12) at 23.59 local time, which was updated on Sunday (17/12) at 12.00, showed active cases of COVID-19 in the neighboring country reached 28,375, there were 1,111 additional cases that day.

Of the total number, KKMNow recorded 27,689 patients undergoing quarantine at home, 664 patients being treated at the hospital, eight people were in the ICU while 14 people were treated in the ICU with ventilators.

If you look at the area, the top five highest number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population is in the Putrajaya Fellowship Area, followed by Melaka, Kuala Lumpur Fellowship Area, Labuan Fellowship Area, Selangor.
