People Who Abuse And Kill A Cat Using An Ax In Riau Islands Detained

JAKARTA - Riau Islands Regional Police have arrested a suspect of cat torture and murder, whose videos go viral on social media.

"The suspect with the initials BSP was secured at Batumerah by a team of Subdit III of the Kepri Ditreskrimum on Wednesday, February 17 at midnight," said Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Kombes Harry Goldenhardt, as reported by Antara, Thursday.

The torture and killing of the animal took place on Wednesday, February 17 at around 15.00 WIB. The suspect deliberately left his residence on a motorbike to look for the cat.

"When he arrived in front of Indomaret Tanjung Sengkuang, Batam City, the perpetrator saw a cat. Then the perpetrator took out an ax that he had brought from the house and hit the cat's head," said Harry.

After killing, he put the cat in a sack and hurried away on his motorbike.

According to Harry, the perpetrator who did not know that his action was recorded by CCTV and had gone viral on social media became the public's attention.

The Opsnal Team of the Dit Reskrimum Polda Kepri immediately conducted an investigation and succeeded in getting the characteristics of the perpetrator who was in the Batu Merah area, Batu Ampar District, Batam City.

Based on the suspect's confession, he killed and ate cat meat because he was suffering from high blood pressure. According to his belief, cat meat can reduce the disease he has.

The police also secured evidence, each of which was a motorcycle, ax, blue jacket and black helmet.

"Until now, the investigating team is still conducting deepening and examining," he said.
