Places Of Panuh, Rohingya Immigrants From East Aceh Are Rejected In Lhokseumawe Shelter

BANDA ACEH - Dozens of Rohingya immigrants who were previously landed and accommodated at the Idi Sport Center (ISC), East Aceh Regency, experienced the rejection of the local community when they were about to be placed in a shelter in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh Province.

"Dozens of immigrants were taken to a shelter in Lhokseumawe, but were brought back to ISC Saturday (16/12) at around 02.00 WIB because local people refused to put them in a shelter in Lhokseumawe," said Tajol, a resident of East Aceh, in East Aceh, Saturday.

Previously, as many as 50 Rohingya immigrants were accommodated in ISC after being unloaded from a ship in the coastal area of Seuneubok Baroh Village, Darul Aman District, East Aceh Regency, on Thursday (14/12) at around 03.45 WIB.

Before being accommodated in the sports center of the people of East Aceh Regency, the dozens of Rohingya immigrants had fled and hid in the bushes before they were finally found.

Based on information, the dozens of Rohingya immigrants who were accommodated in ISC were taken using a truck from the Civil Service Police Unit and Wilayatul Hisbah (Satpol PP and WH) of East Aceh Regency, to a shelter in Lhokseumawe, Friday (15/12) at around 19.00 WIB.

However, after arriving at a shelter in Lhokseumawe City, the presence of dozens of Rohingya immigrants was rejected, until they were finally brought back to ISC in Idi Rayeuk with a round-trip distance of about six hours.

Tajol said the reason for the refusal was because the shelter in Lhokseumawe was full of Rohingya immigrants. Moreover, the transfer of dozens of Rohinga Immigrants from ISC without a letter from the East Aceh Regency Government.

"The rejection is related to the absence of administration in the form of an introductory letter for the transfer of Rohingya immigrants from the East Aceh Regency Government," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Satpol PP and WH of East Aceh Regency, Teuku Amran, said that the transfer of dozens of Rohingya immigrants from ISC to a shelter in Lhokseumawe City was an initiative of the local community.

"The transfer of Rohingya immigrants is an initiative of the community. We only facilitate the transportation. Now, the dozens of immigrants are being placed in ISC again," said Teuku Amran.

Previously, the people of Titi Baroe Village, Idi Rayeuk District, East Aceh Regency, urged relevant agencies to immediately move dozens of Rohingya immigrants who are currently being accommodated at the Idi Sport Center (ISC).

"The community urges the dozens of immigrants to be immediately moved. The ISC is a sports center used by the people on a daily basis," said Keuchik (village head) Titi Baroe Muhammad Adam.

Muhammad Adam said the rejection of the Rohingya immigrants at the sports center was due to disrupting the daily activities of the local community.

"The Rohingya Immigrant shelter is a futsal field. The field is used by all groups every day, both children and youth from several sub-districts in East Aceh," said Muhammad Adam.

According to him, the presence of Rohingya immigrants caused public sports activities to be disrupted. Therefore, people urged the immigrants to be moved immediately.

"We have conveyed this issue to the local government. We also urge the public not to do harm to the Rohingya immigrants," he said.
