JAKARTA - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) said the training for participant witnesses and monitoring of the 2024 General Election was carried out with various anticipations and methods.
"The training of witnesses participating in the election is a mandate from Article 351 paragraph 1 of Law Number 7 of 2017 which is the responsibility of Bawaslu. In this context, witness training is carried out with the point of view of election supervision," said Bawaslu member Herwyn Jefler Hielsa Malonda in a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Herwyn said the witness training of the election participants was part of Bawaslu's responsibility, although election participants also had their own training method for witnesses.
Bawaslu also provides training for election monitors as Bawaslu partners.
"We hope that election supervision can be optimized. Training will be continued at the regional, provincial, and district and city levels," he said.
Technically, training for election participant witnesses follows the KPU (PKPU) regulations regarding voting and vote counting.
"After the PKPU is issued, we will follow the basis who will update Perbawaslu Number 1 of 2019. Furthermore, it will be analyzed where there is an election violation," explained Herwyn.
He emphasized that the stages of voting and vote counting are the most important stages in the entire election process because it is the final battle.
"We are also waiting for the PKPU, which regulates the voting and counting of votes in Papua, whether to use a noken system or not. If you use a noken system, the training will be different," he said.
He added that electronic or online-based training is also planned by providing a learning management system (LMS) method and planning a scheme if there is no internet access in an area.
