Vice President Praises Risma For Bringing Scavengers To Work In BUMN

JAKARTA - Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin, expressed his appreciation for the program formed by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, which rehabilitates former scavengers and homeless people.

He said this in the inauguration of the Social Rehabilitation Assistance Center for Creation Program (Sentra Kreasi ATENSI) managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In this program, former scavengers and homeless people are trained in culinary empowerment activities, hydrophonic farming, laying hens, handicrafts and recycling of non-organic waste into useful goods for the community, as well as empowerment of reflection services, beauty salons and convection.

"The ATENSI Creation Center Program and the development plan for the former scavengers and homeless people are part of the effort to ensure social services and meet the basic needs of every citizen including neglected citizens. ex scavengers and homeless people, "said Ma'ruf at the Pangudi Luhur Work Hall, broadcast on the Youtube Ministry of Social RI, Thursday, February 18.

Ma'ruf said the ATENSI program could be one of the strategic programs to alleviate extreme poverty or the poorest people who have not been reached by basic social services due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ma'ruf also praised Risma's steps in facilitating former scavengers and homeless people to work for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

"This job placement program should set an example and be followed not only by other BUMN and BUMD, but also private companies," he said.

On this occasion, Ma'ruf also reviewed the Rusunawa development plan for former scavengers and homeless people who are located adjacent to the ATENSI Creative Center.

"This program is in line with the target of housing and settlement development to create a city without slums, as well as to provide housing for low-income people or low-income people," said Ma'ruf.

"I hope the Rusunawa development program for former scavengers and homeless people in Bekasi City can be replicated and developed in other social rehabilitation centers located in 16 locations in 10 other provinces," he continued.
